Francis Griffiths is CEO and Founder of Maiple with a long track record of technical and commercial success in global markets with technical / scientific software solutions.
Francis is a business leader and entrepreneur. He has over 30 years of experience in the Test and Measurement and Industrial Automation Industries. He was Senior Vice President at National Instruments leading the $1.2B Global Sales and Marketing Organisation.
Francis holds a BEng (Hons) degree from Cardiff University in Electrical Engineering and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technolgy (FIET). He was recently awarded an Honorary Professorship at Cardiff University. Francis sits on the advisory board of FLEXIS (Smart Energy Systems Project) and is an advisor on the Cardiff University Strategic Oversight Board. He serves as Chairman of RTL Ltd and is a non executive director of VERV, makers of the Home Energy Assistant.
Dr Brian Wee
Co-Founder & CTO
Brian co-founded a startup company (FAVORIOT) in Asia to develop an IoT platform for Smart Health and Smart City applications. Prior to the startup role, he spent over 5 years as a systems engineer to provide consultation to various key players in testing and prototyping products in the wireless technology field. His early academic careers involved collaboration with Nokia and Philips R&D team.
Brian holds a 1st Class BEng (Hons) in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, MSc in RF Communications Engineering, MPhil in RF Waveform Engineering and a PhD in Medical Physics Instrumentation and Digital Signal Processing.
Dr Lothar Wentzel

Lothar Wenzel holds a PhD in Mathematics from EMA Universitat, Germany and Dipl.-Ing (Master) Computer Science from TU Dresden, Germany. He has over 30 years experience in the fields of measurement, control, image processing and pattern recognition and machine learning. He has implemented real-time solutions for simulation and deployments to multi core CPUs, FPGAs and GPUs. He has been awarded 30 patents, is a respected author of numerous books and papers and was awarded the prize for the solution to the Makhoul conjecture at the 2000 DSP world conference.

Dr David Slater
Safety and Cyber Security Expert
Dr David Slater is an expert in human centric algorithm development. He specialises in the application of Bayes algorithms for augmenting predictions to improve safety and reduce risk. He work allows modelling of 'what-if' scenarios to improve the overall system prediction model.
Jonathan is experienced in the development of custom neural networks, deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN), recurrent neural networks (RNN) and various machine learning regression algorithms. He has developed and deployed pipelines for supervised and unsupervised learning as well transfer learning pipelines in Python and TensorFlow. In addition he has implemented multi variate time series forecasting and Image augmentation solutions using the above techniques.
Jonathan graduated from Cardiff University in 2016 and holds a 2:1 BEng in Electrical and Communications Engineering. He attended post graduate courses in AI and machine learning. He is a competent software developer in Python, LabVIEW and C++ and has developed machine learning solutions using Scikit, Keras and TensorFlow frameworks on Microsoft Azure, Google cloud and Amazon platforms.
He is currently an Honorary Professor in the School of Engineering at Cardiff, where he is involved with developing and teaching the evolution of tools and applications in risk and safety. This extends the core disciplines of “SAFETY I” and Human Reliability (Behaviour Based Safety) to the newer complementary approaches in Human and Organisational Performance (SAFETY II). These involve a close association with Erik Hollnagel on the formal development of the new FRAM and Resilience approaches.
